The Northeast is a one-horned rhino wading through Kaziranga's grasslands at dawn, a ferry crossing the Brahmaputra to Majuli's satras, tea gardens rolling into Karbi hills, and a road up to Sela Pass that closes for snow more winters than it doesn't.
