A Few Tips Before Visiting Meghalaya

  • Firstly have a valid ID card with u. And take a local cab with driver who speaks local language
  • (khasi/jaintia/garo).
  • He will acts as a tourist guide too. He will also acts as a mediator b/w you and local people if something goes wrong.
  • Always have an umbrella as we dont know when it rains. Winter is too cool there, especially shillong. So carry some jackets, hoodies.
  • Always maintain some cash in ur wallet, outside of shillong it is vry difficult to find an ATM.
  • Everywhere u will find waterfalls, they are very beautiful but dangerous too. Be careful.
  • Always have life jacket when u enter into water and when u have boat ride.
  • Dont roam at midnights alone. (This is valid for any city/village in India).
  • Public transport is very limited. U have no option otherthan booking a private cab.
  • Drivers are good in english and hindi, so no worries.
  • Caves are good but little risky to visit them in rainy season.
  • People in shillong are matured, educated and lovable. But dont mess with local people.
